Northwest California Wilderness, Recreation, and Working Forests Act – Bill Timeline

December 2020

The US Senate did not pass the legislation before adjourning. Community support for the bill continued to grow in anticipation of its reintroduction in 2021. 

July 21, 2020

The Northwest California Wilderness, Recreation, and Working Forests Act passed the U.S. House of Representatives as part of a multi-state public lands management package that was added to the National Defense Authorization Act.

February 12, 2020

The Northwest California Wilderness, Recreation, and Working Forests Act passed the U.S. House of Representatives as part of a multi-state public lands management package.  

Senators Kamala D. Harris (D-CA) and Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) combined the Northwest California Wilderness, Recreation, and Working Forests Act with two other California lands bills in the Protecting Unique and Beautiful Landscapes by Investing in California (PUBLIC) Lands Act.

The House Natural Resources committee approved the Northwest California Wilderness, Recreation, and Working Forests Act.
