Restoration

The well-being of the region is tied to the health of its forests and watersheds. This legislation would help revitalize damaged forests and watersheds and improve the region’s overall water quality.  Restoring historically damaged areas would have significant long term positive effects on the health and quality of life of people in local communities, including improving drinking water, expanding community wildfire protection, supporting public and firefighter safety, and enhancing recreational experiences.

Congressman Huffman’s draft legislation includes:

  • Designation of the 700,000 acre South Fork Trinity-Mad River Special Restoration Area
  • Establishment of a Partnership aimed at cleaning up and restoring illegal trespass marijuana grow sites.
  • Reform of Fire Management Strategies throughout the region
